4. Pets and Service Animals Policy

This policy is established in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)and applicable Alaska law governing public accommodations. It clarifies our hotel’s approach to guests traveling with pets and service animals.

1. Service Animals

We welcome guests with disabilities who are accompanied by service animals, as defined by the ADA.

Under the ADA, a service animal is:

A dog (or in some cases, a miniature horse) that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for a person with a disability.

  • Examples of qualifying tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Guiding individuals who are blind,

  • Alerting individuals who are deaf,

  • Pulling a wheelchair,

  • Alerting and protecting a person during a seizure,

  • Reminding a person with mental illness to take prescribed medication,

  • Calming a person with PTSD during an anxiety attack.

Permitted Areas

Service animals are allowed in all public areas of the hotel, including guest rooms, dining areas, and lobbies.

  • Guest Responsibilities

  • The animal must remain under control and on a leash, harness, or tether unless the device interferes with the animal’s work.

  • The animal must be housebroken.

  • The handler is responsible for the animal’s care and supervision at all times.

  • If the animal poses a direct threat to the health or safety of others, is out of control, or causes substantial damage, we may ask that it be removed.

2. No Pet Policy

Except for service animals as described above, Kenai River Suites maintains a strict no-pets policy. Guests who bring unauthorized animals into guest rooms may be subject to additional cleaning fees or asked to vacate the premises.

3. Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) NOT Permitted

Emotional support animals are not permitted at this hotel.

ESAs provide comfort or emotional support but are not individually trained to perform specific tasks related to a disability.

Under the ADA, ESAs do not qualify as service animals, and public accommodations such as hotels are not required to allow them.
